When Chris and I were broke, I desperately wanted to care for our health.
But it was hard enough keeping life and limb together.
We were frugal minimalists before it was trendy. And by that I mean we had sparse belongings but without the succulents or Scandinavian decor.
Somehow, we managed to live on far less than most first-world couples do when they start out.
The flattering story is that we had very specific and strategic goals for our future. Debt, big living spaces, and excess stuff had no place in our lives.
The less-flattering story is that we were young, dumb, and simply didn’t know any different.
In our budget, there was almost no wiggle room, but I was deeply passionate about living a healthy, holistic lifestyle. Sometimes that comes with a big price tag.
Because you are reading a blog with the tagline, “Save money, eat healthy,” you can probably relate.
That describes where so many of us are stuck. We are working as hard as we can, but we don’t want to wait until we are wealthy to start caring for our bodies.
