I want your kitchen experience to be efficient and awesome. Saving money and eating healthy requires you to be intentional – intentional with what you buy, where you buy it, and how you prepare it.
The idea is that you don’t need much to make great food. All it takes are a few good tools. Unfortunately, most of us move into our first kitchen without a clue about what that means. And if you are trying to cook healthy, it requires a different set of tools.
Everything You Need gives you the minimalist essentials to make your kitchen exactly what it takes to cook good, real food.
A Few Things Want makes your kitchen even more efficient and helps you get real food on the table quicker.
The great news is, a bunch of my favorite tools from those lists is part of Amazon’s Black Friday Deals!
If you are trying to build an efficient, frugal, real food-friendly kitchen, here are some deals to supercharge your process!

I bought reusable straws awhile back. I’m a convert! People swear by stainless steel, and this set comes with a cleaner.
The cleaner is obviously necessary if we’re drinking smoothies through reusable straws. I didn’t think we would use this tool for anything else, but we actually use it all the time – cleaning bottles, lids, and nooks and crannies in random dishes (that apparently never got clean before I bought this. Gross.), etc.
My goals was always a Vitamix or a Blendtec. But a Nutribullet is the next best thing and costs a fraction of the price. It’s extremely powerful (normal cheap blenders don’t even compare), and I love the individual cups for blending. Since we all like different things in our smoothies, no one has to compromise. Exactly the way a family of millennials likes it.
BONUS TIP: I use the dry blade to blend spices or grind small amounts of oats and rice into flour.
Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker and Warmer
The real game changer is the Instant Pot. Someone sent one to me as a gift (see the unboxing here), and I experimented with it for several months. it lives up to all the hype. It also has a slow cooker option! We put this machine to work multiple times a week – sometimes multiple times a day.
Black Carrier, 9-Piece Double Decker, BPA-Free
I love glass here, specifically the Pyrex pans with lids. Saves me from using plastic wrap (not good for the environment or budget) when I bring a dish to friend’s house or when I’m covering leftovers at night. Pyrex glass is also extremely durable and lasts forever – or for at least 8 years if I’m only speaking from experience.
One of the first kitchen tools I purchased was a pair of kitchen scissors. I still use them 10 years later. They’re handy for 8 million jobs, but they are particularly helpful while making Spatchcocked Chicken (cook a whole chicken in less than 1 hour!) and slicing pizza (don’t tell my Italian relatives!).
This blending tool is far more convenient for blending soups and marinara than dirtying a whole blender. I use it far more than I thought I would.

My friends and family swear by their Ninja blenders. I’m so excited that it’s on sale! If you’ve had your eye on one, now’s the time to jump on it!
With Food Icons &”EZ-Grip” Waffle Back, 4 packs
I just used cutting boards like this yesterday at my in-law’s house. I never realize how ingenious they were until then – when I was done chopping apples for apple crisp, I could just pick up the board, bend it, and dump everything into the pan – no spilling, no mess.
And they take up minimal space! Ideal for the tiny kitchens my family tends to live in. Brilliant.
Professional-Grade, 64 oz. Container, Black
I finally saved up and bought my dream blender last Summer. The Vitamix is everything it promises. We use it nearly every day!
Including Locking Lids, 8 piece
A bowl is a bowl. BUT I swear by the glass Pyrex mixing bowls with lids. Glass bowls mean they are easy to clean and always pretty. Pyrex means they are durable even though they are glass. Lids mean you can bring them places easily, store them in the fridge, and virtually eliminate your need to ever buy plastic wrap. WIN.
Note: These aren’t on sale – I just think they are amazing.
BONUS TIP: If you make sourdough or kombucha, glass bowls are perfect because they are non-reactive.
May your kitchen be efficient, fun, and ultimately help you save money and eat healthy!
